Across the board in the locker room postgame on Saturday night, Broncos offensive players were giving rave reviews to progress of the first-team offense and its readiness for the regular season – particularly when it’s in hurry-up mode.
“It’s tough defensively as a whole,” wide receiver Eric Decker said. “We don’t sub and we just play and keep this high tempo pace going. It tires (opponents) out, especially at this altitude.”
Said tight end Julius Thomas: “A lot of people aren’t used to playing at that tempo, and it’s something that we’ve got to use to our advantage.”
The first team offense rolled up 290 yards in the first half against the Rams. A blocked field goal stopped one scoring drive and a running back Ronnie Hillman fumble halted another or there would have been more than just 10 points on the board after the first two periods.
“It’s great,” wide receiver Demaryius Thomas said. “We’ve been working on (the offense), but I think our main thing is we still have to take care of the ball. But it feels good to go out there and move the ball and score.”
